Day 173

Scripture of the Day:

The kids were beat today, but the weather was good, so we took the Metro over to the National Mall. First, we had front row seats to the Marine Corp marathon. 20,000 people ran buy us! It was an awesome sight!

The weather was beautiful, but the kids were beat. We weren't there long.

We just came home and rested the rest of the afternoon!

God Bless!

Day 172

Scripture of the Day:

So today we needed another last adventure, so we adventured up to Lancaster, PA to eat at a Family-style restaurant. I can't tell you how beautiful the drive was and how awesome the scenery was.

We ate at the Oregon Dairy Farm and Restaurant and although it wasn't family style, it was still good. It was all home cooking. My favorites were the peanut butter pudding, chicken and dumplings. I tried the ham balls, but can't decide what to think about them. They remind me of Me-me's bbq ham.

We drove all around the town, it was raining and cold. We stopped and got baked goods. The Amish are very lucky and even though we were there a short time, I learned some valuable lessons from them....

We came home late and on the way, stopped at a chick fil a in a town in PA. There we met an associate pastor of a baptist church who told us about a church in fairfax to try. It is amazing how God puts people in our paths. I am still in awe of that one!

Had a great day, one of the best we have had in a long time!

God Bless!

Day 167-171

Scripture of the Day:

This was a great week, thanks to the fact that Wayne was at home. On Monday night, the kids and I were still used to him being gone, so it was a shock when he came home from work.

We didn't do much this week, we went to the mall and played. Mady and Jonny had a blast playing with some kids that were their ages. We ate hot dogs from 5 Guys. I really enjoy having lunch out with just the kids.

We even went to Chick fil A one day and did our grocery shopping up north. It was a nice quiet week.

Oh, and I made some of the best bbq baked chicken! Wayne loved it, it came from Paula Deen's sons. I just happened to catch her show! We were all licking the plates!

God Bless!

Day 166

Scripture of the Day: For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of the light. Ephesians 5:8

We needed an adventure today, so we decided to drive up to Antietam and Harper's Ferry to see the trees. I forgot to take the GPS, so we got lost a couple of times. On the way to Antietam, we stopped at the Outlet and got the kids new jackets that will hopefully fit through the whole winter!

We were hungry, so we waited at Cracker Barrel forever and then finally got to eat!

I took a wrong turn and went west on the freeway, so we ended up in PA. But, we found the best orchard with the best caramel apple pie! Wayne loved the cider and the kids loved the apples. It took us a good 2-3 hours to get back to DC, but it was well worth it. The trees were so beautiful and the kids had a great time throwing leaves up!

Think I will leave the GPS at home more often....

God Bless!

Day 165

Scripture of the Day: Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants and prophets. Amos 3:5

Yay, today we get to go and pick up daddy. We ran some errands first and then by the time we did that, the kids fell asleep in the car on the way to the airport, so I had to park in the cell phone waiting area. That is really a great idea, you don't have to pay and can wait there for an hour. Daddy's plane was late, but finally he called and we went to pick him up. Jon was awake and didn't know what to think at first!

We went to Joe Theismann's restaurant for lunch. It is in Alexandria on the verge of Old Town. The service was horrible but the food was pretty good.

We just went home and rested the rest of the day, it was so nice to just all be together again!

God Bless!

Days 161-164

Scripture of the Day: Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is the God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him. Isaiah 30:18

I was suprised at how fast this week went. On Tuesday, we stayed home and did laundry and housework. On Wednesday, we went to the zoo and walked around. It was nice, but the lions were put up and of course, that is what Mady wanted to see. On Thursday, we went to Tysons to play in the big play area. The kids love it there, but it was a hard hard day. This is the day that they started to miss daddy really badly. On Friday, we went to Miss Ellen's to get some jackets. We drove all the way up to Dulles Town Center but the play area was closed. We took a detour to Haymarket to visit Ellen and get our some winter coats since it was going to get cold! We love going there, they have a great house and I love to visit with Ellen! On the way home, there was so much construction, we ended up driving through horse country! I am in love with that part of Virginia and could live there for the rest of my life! And that was our week. They did pretty good at night. Mady got to sleep by herself and I think she got more rest than she has in a long time. We have 2 double beds, so Wayne sleeps with Jon and I sleep with Mady and sometimes it is hard. But, we made it and daddy comes home tomorrow!!!!!

God Bless!

Will post pics later!

Day 160

Scripture of the day:

This is the day that Daddy leaves on his trip. As soon as he got out of the car at the airport, the kids started crying and saying how much they missed him. We went to the store and ran some other errands and then came home to have lunch.

We all needed a day to rest, so we just hung out at home. Jon took a long long nap and Mady watched her new movie.

Later, we all laid on the floor and watched the new Spongebob movie. Suprisingly, this was an easy day. Jon even told me he had a great day!

So far so good, 4 more days to go...

God Bless!

Day 159

Scripture of the Day:

Today was a quieter day than yesterday. We went and had lunch at Uncle Julios and then we took the kids to run around by the Washington Monument. We are on the lookout for free parking that is close to downtown. I know that during the high tourist season, this will be a challenge, but right now, we can do it!

The kids had a blast and we took them home to meet up with Uncle Bill. After we did that, we had to go and get Daddy's stuff from work that he needed to take on his trip. We did a tour of downtown DC by car also.

The guys ended the night by watching a guy flick and eating pizza!

God Bless!

Day 158

Scripture of the Day: "Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you," delcares the Lord. Jeremiah 1:8

Uncle Bill wanted to see the Marine Corps museum so we drove down to Quantico to go. We stopped at the outlet mall to eat lunch first and watch the big UT/OU game at Red Robin.

The museum was really great! They have the best outside playground for the kids so the parents can walk through the museum. The museum is beautiful and they have done a great job! This is now one of my favorites! Mady made some new little friends and had a blast playing with Emily and Kat. She is missing her friends from Roswell and is ready to meet some new little friends!

We drove him over to Manassas to see Bull Run Battlefield afterward and then we were all exhausted!

We took him to our favorite chinese Pei Wei and then went home. It was a long but nice day!

God Bless!

Day 157-Uncle Bill's Graduation

Scripture of the Day: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5

Daddy got up and went to work before he went to Uncle Bill's graduation. I am sick so we are not going besides the fact it is in a scary part of downtown. I am sad because I wanted to get pictures of Wayne pinning his badge on and I forgot to give Wayne the camera.

Wayne came home and then we went and picked Bill up afterward to go to Silver Spring and look for Wayne's keys at the Metro office. It was a miracle, but they were there!!!! We were so happy. We went to the National Mall to let the kids run around a bit, and Daddy and Uncle Bill rode the carousel with the kids.

We had dinner at Bertucci's, an italian place that is really great! We will definitely be going back and there is one near our new home! This is the last day of full per diem, so we had to enjoy one last meal!

God Bless!

Day 156

Scripture of the Day: Your commands make me wiser than my enemies for they are ever with me. Psalm 119:98

I woke up with the beginnings of a sore throat, yuck! We are staying home so I can rest up and get rid of this thing so we can have a good weekend. Tomorrow is Uncle Bill's graduation and we have stuff to see afterward. We did go and get Daddy's uniform to wear and then we went and had dinner at Boston Market. I must be sick becuase food doesn't taste right. Jon fell asleep and slept at the restaurant the whole time.

God Bless!

Day 155

Scripture of the Day: but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31

Today we are going to a museum, not sure which one yet, but we are going. Kids need to run and get some energy out!

Be back later...

Dqy 154-Little Airplanes!

Scripture of the Day: And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:4

We have to take daddy's ike jacket to the cleaners today, so we are going to walk down and look at the little aiplanes before they fly away. I think they are putting them up before it gets too cold, but there are a bunch right below us, so we can go and play on those!

I am trying a new chili dog sauce tonight in the slow cooker so we can have a peaceful night at home. I know Wayne is tired tonight, he is taking care of a bunch of stuff and giving me a break, thank goodness!

Back with pics later....

God Bless!

Day 153

SCripture of the Day: Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, character: and character, hope. Romans 5:3

This is the scripture that I immediately found when I opened the bible today. Seriously, opened the bible and there is was! Do you think this is a message for me or what?

Today was one of those "Why do I bother to take the kids out in public" days. They ran all over the store (well there is another store we can't go to) and then fought all day!

We ran some errands and came home to eat some pizza. Jon was really really tired and took a good nap, which lead him to stay up till 10!

Wayne and I and the kids had dinner at one of our favorite bbq places here. It isn't that bad price wise and Mady loves ribs! She is definitely a good ole Texas girl!

No pictures for today, sorry, but maybe tomorrow!

God Bless!

Day 152

Scripture of the Day:

Our friends, the Saizan's came up to meet Uncle Bill and eat lunch with us. Ellen brought us some really good banana bread! Almost gone today...

We went to Uncle Julios which Camille had told me about and I can't believe we can get really good Tex-Mex in DC!!!! I may never leave now!

After lunch, we went to the Marine Memorial. Then we took Bill to see the townhome and got some cheesecake for dinner!

Kids were so tired that Mady went to bed at 5:30!

God Bless!

Day 151-Pumpkin Patch Day!

Scripture of the Day:

I am just going to get right to the pictures and say we had a great time at the Pumpkin Patch! Even mom and dad became kids again, that was the most I have laughed in a long time!

I can't tell you how much fun we all had! There were giant slides and moon bounces too! The kids ran and played but the best part were all the animals. When we got hungry and thristy, there was free apple cider and apples!

After a few hours, we did get tired and hot, so we got a pumpkin pie, painted our pumpkins and went home to sleep!

God Bless!

Day 150

Scripture of the Day:

Today our home officially got accepted into the government home buying program. We are not out of the woods yet, but a friend of ours gave me some hope that maybe we won't have to wait 3 months for our money. We will see....

The kids and I went exploring without the GPS and didn't get lost! Jon woke up throwing up because he had a ton of mucus, but he got to feeling better quickly! We stopped and got Wendy's for lunch and ate in the car on the way home.

Both kids took a good nap and mommy got some peace and quiet. Uncle Bill came over and we all went to dinner at Union Station. We were there late and walked back through the Capital grounds and down Penn Ave. It was very pretty and quiet for downtown!

We had a great day!

God Bless!

DAy 149

Scripture of the Day: You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfuill your vows. Job 22:27

Today is a stay at home day! We need to clean and do laundry and get ready for the weekend! The kids are eating lunch right now and dumping toys everywhere!

More later...

Day 148

Scripture of the Day: Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Job 22:21

Today, we went to the store to get stuff for dinner. First, we went to Haine's Point to play on the big play structure. It is really a neat place on the Potomac and you can watch the planes at Reagan. Going to miss being so close to that!

Then we went to the store and got some lunch.

Uncle Bill came over to eat dinner and Daddy came home late, he had a long day. It was rainy and cold in the afternoon!

God Bless!

Day 147

Scripture of the Day: Pride goes before destuction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

Today, we had to go get some medicine for my toe and Jon's head. Jon decided to scream bloody murder through Target, I loved the pitty looks, you know it is bad when you get pitty looks.

We went through the drive through and got lunch and found a picnic spot on the Potomac on the trail by Mt. Vernon. We ate lunch and then picked up fall leaves. It is awesome being around so many beautiful trees! The kids loved it!

After nap, they glued the leaves to paper! We had fun doing it!

We met Uncle Bill at Chevy's for dinner and then came home tired but happy!

There was a pretty bad storm that brought in a nice cold front, yay!

God Bless!

Day 146

Scripture of the Day: Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courst...Amos 5:15

Today we were tired, but we had a great day yesterday! My toe might be infected from a blister and it hurts! The kids and I had lunch at Wendy's, yum! We had to go to the Post Office and we stopped and got a kid's meal!

Not much going on. Uncle Bill came over and we went to eat catfish at King Street! We walked by John McCain's headquaters, but he wasn't there!

God Bless!

Day 145-Sunday

Scripture of the Day: Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is. Amos 5: 14

Today was a whirlwind day! Uncle Billy is here and we wanted to show him everything in one day! We started with a late breakfast at Corner Bakery, we introduced Uncle Bill to cherry pies. Then we went to the White House and took pictures for Kevin.

We walked to both sides of the White House and then stopped in the gift shop/museum. Then we hopped on the Metro and went to the Police Memorial so he could copy some names for the guys back in Corpus. The kids had a great time running around there! Jon fell into the granite wall and got a nice shiner on his head!

We stopped at Starbucks for a snack and potty break then walked over and played soccer on the mall. It looked like rain, so we rain through the National History Museum and then back to the car. It was a long but great day!

We ate dinner while it poured at Baja Fresh. Uncle Bill needed some supplies, so we stopped at the store, then took him back to his hotel!

We all had a great day and slept great!

God Bless!
