Day 59- Happy July 4th!

Scripture of the Day: For by grace given me, I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Romans 12:3

We woke up and decided to hit the ground running, while watching the skies for the thunderstorms that they said were coming! We ate some breakfast and then went over to the national mall. We had to go through a security checkpoint, they had the whole area sealed off and so was the areas around the monuments and white house. We got in and then made our way to the Folklife Festival and ate some tex-mex which the kids love and we had bbq which mommy and daddy love!

After that, we decided to play in the grass and wait for the parade. We had to watch the parade pretty far back because we were in the secure area and didn't want to leave and people were everywhere! Alot more people than the Memorial Day one!

We watched for awhile and then played in the grass. On the way back up to the Metro, we stopped at Freedome Fest, which was a group of Christians spreading the word of God. They had games for the kids, a puppet show, etc! They were right across the street from the Hare Krishnas who were doing their thing. We didn't want to walk through that, so we came home!

The train was crowded and by the time we got home, we were tired and ready for a nap! We ended up not going back to the fireworks, but walking down the street and watching them there. Had a great view of the monument from Crystal City!

God Bless!
